Two medical drama TV series debuting in January, to enjoy on your backyard screen
We spoke earlier about the fresh and renewed American TV shows to enjoy on a big outdoor screen in 2022.
In this post, let's have a closer look at two drama TV debuts that launched this week: The Cleaning Lady -- based on the 2017 Argentinian TV series La Chica Que Limpia -- which premiered on Fox January 3 and Good Sam which premiered on CBS January 5.
Both January 2022 debuts feature stars in the leading roles.
Good Sam's Sophia Bush (1982) previously starred in The WB/CW drama series One Tree Hill (2003–2012) and in the NBC police procedural drama series Chicago P.D. (2014–2017). While Jason Isaacs (1963) is known for his earlier roles in The Patriot (2000), Black Hawk Down (2001), as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series (2002–2011), and as Capt. Hook in Peter Pan (2003).
The Cleaning Lady's Élodie Yung (1981) is best known for her role in the 2nd season of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Netflix series Daredevil and the Netflix miniseries The Defenders. Adan Canto (1981) played Sunspot in the 2014 superhero film X-Men: Days of Future Past and in 2015 starred in the North Dakota-set ABC prime time series Blood & Oil.
Both of the January debuts saw their development paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Both projects got their pilot order in the winter of 2020, with a series greenlight arriving for both TV shows in May 2021.
Good Sam joins such CBS Primetime shows as Survivor (since 2000), NCIS (since 2003) and Bull (since 2016). While The Cleaning Lady adds to such Primetime Fox programming as The Simpsons (since 1989), Bob's Burgers (since 2011) and WWE Friday Night SmackDown (since 2019)
